Sriram Bhajan Mandali has its genesis in Tiruchi Bagavatha Sammelanam, which, The first Seetha Kalyana Vaibhavam was celebrated in 1971, under the auspices Tiruchi Bagavatha Sammelanam. The spectacular function was oganised by SarvaShri. Ayyalur Ramadurai Iyer, S.Ramadoss Iyer (Ramana Vessels, S.R MAHAL) Tiruchi K.Sivarama bhagavathar , K. R. Venkatasubramania Bhagavathar , T.N. Mahadevan, Gopalachari, Srinivasan (Geetha Press) , Ramamurthi Iyer and T.V.Ganapathi.

The noble venture started by the golden hands of the founders has maintained its momentum till today. The grand celebrations were continued, with the support of ardent devotees. In 1976, with the benign blessings of Sri Sri Haridoss Giri Swamigal , Tiruchi Bagavatha Sammelanam was rechristened as Sriram Bhajan Mandali and activities were carried on with vim and vigour. Since 1976, Seetha Kalyana Vaibahavam and Bagavatha Sammelanam were conducted every year, for 15 years in a grand manner, at the National College Higher Secondary School grounds, Tiruchi. At that time, Sriram Bhajan Mandali functioned under the tutelage of Sri Ayyalur Ramadurai Iyer( President), Sri Gopalachari (Vice President), Sri Sivarama Bagavathar (Secretary) , Sri. S. Ramadoss Iyer ( Joint Secretary) and Geetha Press Sri.Srinivasan (Treasurer). From 1991, the celebrations were held at Govindaraja Nilayam, (Tennur) Chidambaram Mahal, (Melachinthamani), Sringeri Bhavanam and Yoga Kalyana Mandapam (Amma Mandapam Road). The grand events were organized by Sarvashri T. M. Srinivasan, N. Santhanagopalakrishnan, Sri. C. S. Balakrishnan, Agasthiyar Sri.Gopalakrishnan and Sri R.Swaminathan.

The venue of celebrations of Sriram Bhajan Mandali was shifted to S.R. Kalyanamahal in 2015. The activities of the Bhajan Mandali have expanded. Seetha Kalyana Vaibahvam is feted every year for 3 days in the month of Adi. Radha Madhava Vivaham is also celebrated with great gaiety and enthusiasm in the month of Marghazhi (December 31 and January 1) every year. The Mandali’s activities are supported by generous donoations of devotees and contributions from Unchavirthi.

Since inception, Sriram Bhajan Mandali has been nurtured with utmost care by great Bagavatha Sironmanies- Kudanthai Sri Balu Bagavathar, TiruvidaiMarudur Sri. Venkatarama Bagavathar, Mayavaram Sri. Krishnamurthi Bagavathar, Sri. N.C. Venkatarama Bagavathar, Srirangam Sri. Sethumadhavarao Bagavathar, Kumbakonam Sri. E. K. Srinivasa Bagavathar, Vittaladasar Sri. Jayakrishna Deekshithar, Tiruchi Sri. T. N. Mahadeva Bagavathar (IOB), Sri. K.Sivarama Bagavathar, Sri. Pitchai Bagavathar, Sri. Kattupputtur K.V.S. Mani Bhagavathar , Thanjavur Sri Subburama Bagavathar, Kovai Sri Jayarama Bagavathar and Madurai Sri Somanarayana Bagavathar.

The active and generous patronage of many other great bagavathas has strengthened the reputation and esteem of Sriram Bhajan Mandali. Notable among them are: Erode Sri. Rajamani Bagavathar, Cuddalore Sri. Gopi Bagavathar, Srivanchiyam Sri. Murali Bagavathar, Villupuram Sri. Jayatheertha Bagavathar, Sri Pasupathi Bagavathar, Mayavaram Sri. Muthukrishna Bagavathar, Papanasam Sri. Ramani Bagavathar, Udayalur Sri Kalyanarama Bagavathar, Udayalur Sri. Balarama Bagavathar, Kanpur Sri.Mahadeva Bagavathar,Tiruchendurai Sri.T.K.Balu Bagavathar, Kulitalali Sri. Gopal Bagavathar and Nangavaram Sri. Manikandeswara Bagavathar. In addition to the brilliant bagavathars from other places, Sriram Bhajan Mandli had recorded a splendid growth with the able support of our own giants of Tiruchi, such as Sri. K.R.ViswanathaIyer, Kondayampettai. Sri. Vaidyanarayana Bagavathar, Sri L. S. Ramakrishna Bagavathar, Sri. Rengu Bagavathar, Sri . Venkatachala Bagavathar, Sri.Adhinarayana Bagavathar, Sri. Kailasa Bagavathar, Sri. Venkatanarayana Bagavathar, Sri. Y.SivaramaIyer, and Sri.Gopal Bagavathar. The contribution of Kalaimamani Smt .Revathi Muthusamy to Sriram Bhajan Mandali is very laudable. Her dance troop has conducted many programmes which enriched the cultural and divine dimensions of the Bhajan Mandali. The ladies wing of Dharmasam vardhini Sabha is conducting the Kuthuvillkku Pooja every year on a Friday of the Adi month. The pooja is conducted on a very large scale in a systematic manner. Ekadina Sahasranama Laksharchana is also being performed in association with Sri Vishnu Sahasranama Parayana Sabha. Many cultural programmes have been organized by Sriram Bhajan Mandali. Children as well as adults of all age groups take part in the programmes. Many famous bhajan groups like Smt . Kalyani Margabhandhu group and Smt. Kanthimathi Santhanam group have been performing bhajans regularly under the aegis of the Mandali. Tiruchi Akshara Manimalai group has facilitated the strident growth of Sriram Bhajan Mandali. The Mandali has successfully organized the Harikatha programmes of eminent and famous lady artists like Smt.Visaka Hari, Kalaimamani. Smt.Vaijayanthimala, Kalaimamani Smt. Jayanthi Jankiraman. Their discourses were greeted by very favourable public response.
